 C 15 Edison Turntable
« Result #2 Today at 6:17pm »

I have an Edison C 15 turntable for sale / trade. It spins after it's wound up so I'm assuming that it would be good for parts if nothing else. This phonograph does not have the cabinet, it's the turntable, gears etc.

I could be wrong, but I think it's got something to do with one metal being softer than the other, & the grease trapping any worn metal, turning it into a cutting compound??

Bill, I'm curious about your advice regarding use of grease or oil, depending on the materials of the meshing gears. I am no mechanical expert, but I have never heard this before. My understanding has been that oil and grease are two different types of lubricants, designed for different kinds of conditions (different kinds of bearings or wearing surfaces). Namely, oil flows, and grease sticks in place. Why would you use oil with gears of different metals, and grease with gears of the same metal?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi Bill,

Wow! Many thanks for getting this info for me, I really appreciate it. I'll write to Gregg Cline right away. Now I can save my frustration for something other than trying to paint the markers by hand!

Happy New Year!

Larry

Hi Larry,

I checked with Gregg Cline and he now makes decals (new addition since last catalog) of the speed markers for your Amberola V. You can contact him at gcline@woh.rr.com
He will be able to supply the script decal for the corner as well.

Nice site.
They also have a limited supply of repro DD covers that you fold & glue yourself for $1.50.
Great idea to keep production costs down.
