I'm asking, not offering here.
I'd give my right arm for a well-recorded version of a Tone Test disk played on a period machine. Can any of you guys supply one?
The Blue Amberols are said to sound fabulous, and sound files posted here confirm that for me. The Tone Test disks used in the shows were said to have extra layers of condensite added to make them sound better than the average Diamond Disk. Do those of you who have heard one agree?
Letters internal to Victor execs at the time grudgingly admit that Edison's Diamond Disk records sounded great, so I'm curious about how good the best of these the ones sounded.
I'd be grateful for any help you can provide,
Best,
-Miranda

Miranda,
I suggest you contact Ron Dethlefson at R2DEF@PACBELL.NET . He is a wealth of information regarding Edison Recordings and has authored several books on the BAs and Diamond Discs.
