Hello all Ive got my c250 operating well now but I still have one issue remaining with the diamond discs. After buying a rebuilt reproducer from one of the vendors named on this site, Im not having any luck finding diamond discs that dont skip in certain spots. Im certain its not the rebuilt reproducer cause the original one does the same. Is it very hard to find discs that dont skip, maybe the ones in my collection are just bad. The discs look fine but by nomeans am i a pro with all of this. Any feedback would be great thanks again Kim

Hi Kim,
Does the skipping occur in the same location on these records? If so, it generally means that the condensite surface has been penetrated and the composition core has been exposed. You can usually see this as a light brown mark in the groove. Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to repair this damage. Another reason for skipping is that the limit pin is striking the inside of the limit loop. This can be caused by a stiff hinge block at the rear of the Reproducer or the horn neck where it connects with the Reproducer is out of adjustment. The Reproducer weight should pivot freely w/o binding on the hinge block but where you have a rebuilt one from a dealer, that shouldn't be the problem. When you lower the Reproducer onto a record, the limit pin should be approximately centered in the loop both horizontally and vertically, and should stay centered as the record plays until you reach the runoff. Let me know what you find after reading this and perhaps I can help you further.
