I am unhappy with my DD reproducer. It has a new stylus, new diaphragm and gaskets, but it blasts. I have had to stick some paper towels in the horn to tone it down. Are there any new school type gaskets that can deliver a cleaner sound? Who is the best person to send my reproducer to if I am not yet ready to do the work myself? Thanks. Rod
oh, the paper towels are in the horn because my A-150 does not have the tennis ball volume control.

By 'blasting', do you mean distortion?
There are a number of factors that might cause this.
First off, have you checked the records you are playing carefully? Wear may not be easy to spot off hand, and 'dished' discs may also cause problems.
Second, is the reproducer height adjusted properly? The limit pin should ideally float about halfway in the loop.
Thirdly, are the diaphragm and gaskets set in properly? There should not be any warp in the diaphragm, and the retaining ring should be tightened just enough to be airtight - no more.
Fourthly, is the new stylus an 'Expert' stylus? If so, it is a good idea to check for any flaws or damage: there have been problems with the Expert DD styli damaging records in recent years.
There may be more possible causes for the problem, but these are what come most readily to mind right now.
