I am trying to get my Amberola V up and running and found a large nut on the screw that adjusts the speed acting as a spacer between the head of the adjusting screw and the adjusting bar. Is this a necessary original item? Is there something else that needs to be there? I haven't been able to find a photo of this part of a V. Thanks! Cliff P.S. - I ended up removing the nut and readjusting the speed adjust bar. Seems to work OK. Am I missing something? Cliff Attachments:

Don't worry, the nut is not part of the speed adjustment mechanism. I suspect someone has used it as a lazy way of adjusting the speed without adjusting the screw on the speed adjustment bar. You seem to have done the right thing, looking at your lower picture. Congratulations on your Amberola V - they are a wonderful machine.
