I finally got an O reproducer for my Edison Standard D. I am amazed to discover that 2 minute black wax Edison cylinders sound better than the later dubbed Blue Amberols now that I can hear them on the larger Diaphram offered by the O. It is a shame that their are so few reproducers that let us really enjoy how well the 2 minute cylinders sound. It seems that cylinder quality just collapsed after Edison became obsessed with disc machines.

Well, it's not so much that they became 'obsessed' with discs, as that they realized the cylinder market was shrinking, and decided to cut costs by using the same masters for both formats...

Something interesting. I have "Ruy Blas Overture " by Victor Herbert on both Blue Amberol, and, Diamond Disc. They are both totally different versions. Not copies.
