Gents, Phonoland.com has a pretty good forum. Just click on the link on the right that says Forum... They have various sections dealing with a wider range of the phonograph hobby than we do here. I generally stick with the Acoustic Phonograph and 78's & Cylinders sections. Regards, J.

I have a cabinet that was stored as a stage prop. It is a tall cabinet that has a paper sign inside the top that says Edison Cabinet Factory No. 17 2089
The top and front panel have been covered with vinyl fabric. Before I tear it apart does anyone know what I have?
I can sell it with proceeds going to the restoration of the Love Opera House, Fremont, NE

Hi,
It sounds like an Edison Phonograph cabinet w/o the inner workings just by your description. There were several machines that were housed in the taller cabinets but w/o a picture or the model # it is hard to give a value. The ID plates with model designation were found either on the inside rear panel or on the left side toward the front.
