I think that the later Victrola VI models would be kinder to records due to their ball bearing tonearms. Columbias had a sleeved pot metal tonearm that has quite a bit of drag. My experience with a larger Viva Tonal is that it is bass and treble heavy while a little too light on the mid range. I once had a really large Viva Tonal but that is a story in itself!!!
