Thought I'd see if anyone has some good cylinders that they would recommend to everyone else.
So far, I would say that my favorite 4 minute cylinder has to be "Bonnie Blue Flag" by Polk Miller. After searching for it for a year, I gave up and paid $34 on ebay, the most I have shelled out for one cylinder. It is amazing, I see all of the Polk Miller cylinders go in the $50-$70 range all of the time and always wonder who these collectors are that keep driving up the price. The neatest part to me, besides the song itself, is that he actually fought in the Civil War.
I have also found that you can't really go wrong with anything by Billy Murray. "Gasoline Gus", and "The Little Ford that Rambled Right Along" are two of his best.
If anyone else has some good ones that they think would be worth buying if you don't have them already, put them up here!

Billy Murray's always a safe bet in my books. Also people like Ada Jones, Billy Williams, Florrie Forde, Harry Lauder, & combinations of either Collins, Stanley & Harlan seldom released what I'd call duds. Native American titles like Redwing & Topeka are usually worth looking out for too.

Edisonphonographs,
Four that spring to mind immediately are: BA 3220 Liberty Bell March, N.Y. Mil. Band; BA 1543 Red Wing, F.H.Potter; BA 1743 The Trail of the Lonesome Pine, Manny Romain; BA 1884 Rainbow, Jones & Murray; BA 1648 Dixie, N.Y. Mil. Band; (Eps' Dixie Medley on BA is fantastic too, don't have that one yet); BA 1888 Marching Through Georgia, J.F. Harrison & chorus. So many more as well...
Regards, J.

You know, he was a druggist in Richmond, Va., and formulated pet health products initially for his dog, Sergeant. That line of pet products is still in business as 'Sergeant's' brand. Do you have Ken Flaherty's book/CD? Some of my favorite cylinders: Be My Little Baby Bumblebee -- Spencer & VanBrunt The Swan They Go Wild Simply Wild Over Me - Murray Sheridan's Ride By The Light of the Silvery Moon - Jones Tramp Tramp Tram (Special H) - Harlan and Stanley Barbara Allen - Dalhart When You Wore A Tulip When That Midnight Choo Choo Casey Jones Red Wing (out of time . . . gotta go)

My favorite BA is No. 1730, William Tell Overture by Charles Daab. I'm crazy about bell solos, and this is just about the best out there.

Interesting. I just noticed that when I typed in Pu$$y Cat Rag as one of my favorites in my previous post, the auto editor deemed it offensive and changed it to "girl thingy." I think that's a bit extreme, to say the least.

Just kidding, that's one of the "bad words" Pro Boards pre-sets in the system. I was just talking about that one with S. on his board a couple of days ago. Neither one of us recalled inputting that one so it must be one of pre-sets. It's one that has lots of legitimate uses-as we know, an odd choice for a pre-set IMHO. How 'bout She was Bread In Old Kentucky if only for it's title! ;D I like Curse of An Aching Heart too. Regards, J.
