Hi, Just getting a C-19 going after it has been sitting for many years. Found replicator parts needed thanks to Bill. It has about 30 records in the vertical dividers. Can you please provide advice on the best way to clean/condition them? Thansk in advance Chuck

Chuck,
Never use water on a Diamond Disc! The safe way to clean DDs is to use 90% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) I damped a paper towel with the alcohol, I prefer Bounty for this since it seems less coarse, and lightly wipe it in a circular motion with the grooves. If they are very dirty you may need to do it a few times. If they are paper label DDs try not to get the label wet. Hope that helps.
Regards, J.

Hi J, Thanks for the advice. I will try it. I am having trouble with the site. I check a post and see a reply and try to respond and am told I can't post a reply even after I have logged on. I tried to post a picture on my first post but could not. Not what sure I am doing wrong. Never had these problems with other sites. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Chuck, Check you sign in duration, if it's set to low you'll get signed out early. Are you wanting to post an image hosted elsewhere online? You need to use something like Photobucket to link to images. Upload the image there from your computer then copy the link under the image with the [i mg] tags on it. It'll look like, this: Just copy and paste that and away you go.... Hope that helps. Regards, J.

Well, I'm a trusting and open sort ("Can we talk?"), so I'll reveal what I've been using to clean my Diamond Discs for some years now--very effectively, with no apparent harm: WINDEX. Then, yes, use a paper towel such as Bounty and wipe with the grooves. All the usual caveats: don't get the liquid anywhere near the spindle hole, the edges, or other areas that might access the core.

P.S. You know what ALSO is great for cleaning DD surfaces? Baby wipes! Makes sense. They have enough cleansing elements to remove you-knopw-what, but are gentle enough not to irritate. Actually, I've been using baby wipes much more lately than Windex.

I've found that those cotton pads women use for removing makeup are great for this purpose. However, maybe it's my imagination, but I swear some DDs have more surface noise AFTER cleaning them with 90% isopropanol. If they're relatively clean, especially paper label ones, I leave them alone.

I find that alcohol and paper towels only removes surface dirt. I find a Parastat cleaner by that has afine brush sandwiched between 2 cloth pads gets the dust out of the grooves even after cleaning with alcohol. You have to get down to the bottom with DD because of their nature it, s not so critical with 78, s as they go side to side and the stylus doesn, t ride in bottom like DDs do
