Yeper, 30 years ago, was much differ then today. But never know what people will pay sometime if get luck, other time don't, depend of how market and ecomony is moving also recession were in now. I saw differ price on eBay for same type Edison Phonegraph. Then go to differ website may see it differ there also. Also at Antique store, Auction, some time garage and yards Sale. I think it only worth what one want to pay for it. But I didn't buy mine for that reason. I brought it because someone didn't want it becasue taking up room space in house. So now I enjoy it,. Here the sad part, you enjoy it, but you have no in family to hand these thing down to, in family. Sometime end up out on steet curb. This happen to my Father, but we didn't want his junk or treasure, but someone else did where he live. Well I wish luck selling it.

I brought it 29 years ago, I ask a friend of mine, who knew more about these old cylinder, he told me it wasn't worth anymore then $50. I ask why he thought this? He told me, because it needed a lot works done to it. He told me not pay no more then $50. Back in those days you be lucky, if you could find anyone who knew how to repair them. He told me to go to the Flea Market, and find someone there who do this type of work. I found old gentleman, who been work on them for 51 years, he was already was in his late 70's. That all he done he told me, just fix them and repair, old Phonograph, and colllect them, He said no one around here know how to. But he die off 15 years ago or longer, I lost track of him over the years. If it wasn't for him, this would still be sitting in moths balls. Then 20 years later I sold for what you are asking for. I wish I, didn't sell it, but would be still sitting in dust from house. So had to get rid of it. That way it was. I knew nothing, but what I know now. Sorry you think I took advantage, of that person but, he was desperate was looking for money. Would you had pay more if knew part were missing?

No I don't know. When I brought my Hepplewhite, it had 16 records in it. Other I had to bid for them on Ebay.com, it best buy them in a lot, then single. They are not cheap, but sometime get lucky at a flea market, or old record store. If you find them there pay no more then $2.00, stock up on as many as you can. Sometime they sell on eBay for .99 cent, but by the time they ship it to you, they got you there. I wouldn't pay more then $5 or less. You have shop around ask people where you live, or other state near you. Good Luck!
