I am forming an idea to create a Frankenstein phonograph using a gutted victrola cabinet, an Edison Standard or Home bedplate and top gearing, a Diamond Disc or custom fitted horn, and an electric motor wired through the crank handle opening.
My question is, does anyone have experience or know who I can talk to regarding electrifying a standard or home phonograph with a modern electric motor?

I dont have any experience or know anyone that does, but I just looked at my black Ediphone motor, and it doesn't look like it would be all that hard to mount to a Standard bedplate. Even the on/off switch is in a similar position. It wouldn't be a modern motor, but at least it would be already set up to run a mandrel. Hopefully someone will know the pro's & con's.

This affirms information I received from a friend. I'm more inclined to use a modern electric motor given the chance and building a mount for it that I can mount to the bedplate using the original screw holes. I'm probably going to contact Peter Dilg to see what he does at Wizard with his master recorder... I'm inclined to believe he has an electrified player to ensure a more even recording, but I may be mistaken.
