Hello One & All,
I am not sure if this is the correct forum so please forgive me if it is not. I own three or four old style crank 78 record players. My concern/question is, I see a million ads and Ebay items for all kinds of replacement needles. Will just about any needle work in any player? I see several ads for Victrola but seldom see an ad for Burch, Columbia and etc. Would it be safe to use an off brand.
Secondly what type are the best. Wood, metal, steel, which type should I purchase?
Thank you all in advance for your assistance.
Respectfully, Tim O'D

Hi Tim,
I recently procured 10,000 new medium tone needles from a long time maker of steel phonograph needles. These were made by Bagshaw's in Nashua, NH. and they were formerly of Lowell, Mass. These are NOT plated and are very nice tumbled steel needles and will not break up during play like some of those that are offered out there. PM me if you are interested, and anyone else, for that matter.
Bill
