Shane, I was looking at those same books on U.S. E-Bay (Three separate auctions ) Let us know how they are when you get them. That's a whole lot cheaper than the BA books from Mulholland Press IIRC. Regards, J.

I bought a set of these, and they're just three books of cylinders, numbers and artists as listed on the rim. Nothing about recording or issue dates, etc. A single cross-reference book would have sufficed. They'd be helpful for looking up titles listed by number only on Ebay, but frankly, if the seller is unwilling to go to the trouble to list title and number, then I'm also unwilling to do it myself in most cases. I don't know about books regarding wax cylinders.

Conde..., Thanks, Without the recording dates etc., then these are a bare essential list. I'd rather save my money and get the Mulholland Press volumes. As you say useful for looking up catalogue numbers for auctions lists but that's about it. (Sorry Shane ) Regards, J.

No worries. I had a feeling they'd be disappointing. Still, it's near impossible to get any books on phonos etc out here, so it's a start. I might use one of them to write dates in next to the info, and keep one as a good copy. The other may end up on ebay out here?? I'll see when they get here. Like I said, it's a waste really to have 3 books, all with the same info anyway.

Shane,
Well it works as a cross reference (Having two books with the same info in different permutations.)
That's sort of how I do my E-Bay ledger. A book with everything in order by date and the a card file in alphabetical order by seller. Makes it easy to find a seller quickly and any notes I've attached and the ledger helps me keep track of what's coming in. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Thing is why pay for a book like that when it would probably be fairly easy to make one with the Mulholland books as a reference and now you'd have the dates.
Regards, J.

Folks,
Allan Sutton recently published Edison Blue Amberol Records, and can be obtained through Mainspring Press. I would say it's probably the best reference book for U.S Issue BAs currently in print. It does have a cross reference for the 4M wax and DD dub info as well. I have a copy and I find it not wanting for info. Unfortunately, it does not list European releases.

I'll have to order a copy. After all, I do have to live up to my new title of "Amberol Deity" on the OTVMMB..............Wait! Since I'm a deity, maybe they'll give me a discount.

Just ordered my copy! Thanks for letting us know about this great resource, Bill. I have a copy of Tim Gracyk's Edison Blue Amberols: Complete Index, which contains alphabetical listings by recording artist and song, but no dating information. Rocky

John,
Edison Blue Amberols: Complete Index by Tim Gracyk is a spiral-bound book. It's available from Tim Gracyk and not from a publisher.
Edison Blue Amberols: 1912-1914, by Ronald Dethlefson, is basically a compilation of Blue Amberol record slips.
I don't have the 1915-1929 volume.

I have both copys of Deftlefson's books, but you will find Sutton's easier for quick look-up. There isn't anything in the way of photos like the aforementioned books, but it's a wealth of dates. dubs, etc.

Actually, Bill, thanks for the review on Mainspring's Book on BAs. I ordered and got my copy a couple days ago. It'll do just fine!
