Hi folks. I'm new to this, and fell in love with these old phonographs at Gaslight Village in upstate NY when I was a kid. I would like to get one in original condition, but need y'all experts advice so I don't get taken! I love the early models with those awesome banners on the base. What should I be looking for to make sure the player has an original decal, reproducer ,crank, pinstriping , etc. since there are so many repros out there? -Who are some of the more honest & reputable dealers? Anybody seen any really decent mostly original players lately? How much approx. should I expect to spend for good original working Standard or Home phonograph? Thanks very much folks. I really do appreciate any help and advice you knowledgable people have to offer! I hope you all have a blessed day! Russ

hi russ not to worry about repros, people dont make repro cylinder machines so you can be almost guaranteed it will be original. in order to see if everything is original just see if it has age (wear, rust etc) and if it does it will be a original part if you want a standard or home in good working order expect to pay about $400 anywhere up to $800 and possibly even more, i would reccomend buying from benjamin canaday, all his machines have been repaired and are guaranteed for 30 days (except main springs). his email is: thevictrolaguy@gmail.com he prices his machines to sell so if you want a bargain, go to him!
