I recently picked up two 30 inch horns for cylinder machines. One is all brass and the other black and brass. Both are relatively dent free and straight, but filthy dirty. I would greatly appreciate someone that's knowledgable giving me some tips on cleanning these up. I've heard everything from car simonize and a soft cloth to black shoe polish on the black body of the horn to 50/50 lemon juice and water or paste cleaner like Metal Glow or Brasso on the brass bell. As mentioned above, there's pleanty of dirt to remove first. Soap and water before proceding? Thank you to anyone who has a moment to reply. Gene

Gene,
Brasso on the brass parts. We used this in the Corps to clean our belt buckles, etc for inspection. As far as the black painted part of the horn, this was usually enamel over tin/steel. Clean with non pumice Go-Jo and buff.
