Boy, I can't remember the last time I was on here. I figured I had better make my presence known, before my account goes bye bye! Although I noticed that has not happened. I'm sorry I have not been on here in a while, I do apologize, for that. Mostly been bouncing between Facebook and YouTube. Also the Talking Machine Forum and the 78 rpm community. Also, I never really saw a large amount of traffic on here, but something compelled me to come back and post. So here I am! Now I am not sure what I have shared with this board, but I thought I would fill you in. Last year I bought an Edison Standard horn. A few years ago, I received an Edison Amberola 30 model phonograph. Plus a few more Brown Wax cylinders. Need to find a model "B" reproducer. Have not bought a whole lot in the way of Edison Records, although I did find an indestructible cylinder record. Will post a video of it soon. Mainly I have been selling off some 78 records form my collection and a few Diamond Discs. Been buying certain 78 records. Blind Blake on black label Paramount, Jimmie Rodgers, etc. Mainly collecting records that I have more of an interest in. Was winding up with too many records that I was not interested in. Now I know this board is mainly Edison Phonographs, but I did not want to limit myself! Also, still working on my YouTube Channel. As well! Well that's about it for now! Talk to everyone soon! Paul

Hey Paul, it's Ralph (the one with the Joan Rivers icon) from the Talking Machine Forum (TMF). I have been posting both here and there for around a year now, but over the past few months had been posting there MORE--as like you say, there's more traffic over there. But size doesn't always matter. ;D I decided to abandon the TMF as I just got tired of all the gratuitous insults to Edison the man, his phonographs, and his records. As if Edison never produced anything worth hearing and Victor never produced anything less than stellar. Nuts to that. Anyway, hope to see you posting more over here. Ralph

Dear Ralph and Paul,
Welcome (back) to the Edison Discussion Forum. It is not the most active Forum in the world, in part due to the specialised nature of its content. We only discuss Edison and his products, mostly, which pretty much makes this a niche Forum. I am surprised at the comments regarding the Talking Machine Forum and it not being interested in Edison, as there does seem to be a fair bit on there certainly regarding Discs and Long Players. Compared to other Phonograph/Gramophone Fora on the web you may stumble across, the TMF is a haven of inclusiveness and tolerance!

Hi Tim, the TMF does seem to be run by broad-minded, tolerant individuals--but that hasn't kept some from using it to frequently denigrate Edison and his records. Though there were several Edison enthusiasts over there who provided me with valuable information, I finally decided that I would feel more comfortable in an Edison niche environment. I don't mind waiting days and days for a response, as long as the response is more likely to be positive than not. On the TMF forum there are folks (I'll not name them) who think it is cute to produce comments like "That Edison company was ready and willing to let the crap out of the bag, huh? Sheesh." (That's a direct cut and paste, BTW, of a response that was posted to a detailed list of Edison recordings that I had taken some trouble to create and post). None of the Edison people over there lifted a finger to object on my behalf, and after I posted a few even-tempered responses I decided to just leave.

Eh, I never noticed anything particularly troublesome in that regard; perhaps I just ignored it. I check the TMF much more than here. As I enjoy and learn about Victor and other makes as well. Any ill-advised comments there pale in comparison to the brouhaha that led to the creation of the TMF in the first place, but that's a story that does not bear repeating. Glad to see you here, too, Ralph, and good to see you again, Paul! Keep your avatars, as I for one tend to recognize people that way more often than by username, and I'm sure others do as well.

Hey Ralph, well I am still here, although I did have to update my account. Has Matt found a replacement admin. Yet? Or have you just taking over as the new admin? I am sorry to here about the Passing of MaroonGem. He seem like such a great guy, I never knew him too much, but he did help me out quite a bit when I started back in 2006. Anyway, I got my YouTube channel up and running three years ago and I have 331 videos. Plus I started a new channel Nippers Electric Bar. Also nice to see that my Opus Avatar is still here. So that helps. Anyway, just thought I would pop back in an post a video to my YouTube Channel Edisonfans19. See you all around. Paul
