Yessir....looks better John. Remember, be patient and gentle with 'er. She's an old lady! ;D
Once you've let the whole thing "cure" for a couple days after Howard's, you can hit it again with that and some 0000 steel wool. It should even the spots out a bit.

Folks, It's coming along-sloooowly, I've waited to "give the finish a rest". With the exception of the back & interior, I think, I've gone as far as I can with the GoJo. Now It's time for somthing a bit more aggressive. The top and front door especially are very dark and alligatored. I had mixxed results with the Howard's on the top of the lid. I'm thinking it's a job for attempting re-amalgamation. The finish has flaked off a bit on the "keys" and the corner posts. But it's coming along. Regards, J.

John, A great find.. I wish I had one.. My experience with my large upright brunswick was similar.. It had some paint dripped on the top and sides and was medium alligatored. I took very fine wet dry sandpaper and kept carefully rubbing it down till I got it close to smooth.. Then any edge or places that may have cut though I applied a bit of mahogany stain. Heres the hardest part.. I applied a 4 part denatured alcohol to one part shellac finish but laying each side so it was flat. Shellac is very tricky to apply and has to be done very carefully but quickly.. You could do some reading on the net on how to use it.. It can be a night mare done incorrectly.. But if done right the next step is to rub the shellac with a felt pad and rubbing compound, that takes the glare off of it and makes a original kind of look. It has to be followed with a good paste wax. You can hardly tell mine isn't original.. What about the reproducer? You mentioned the sound..

Larry,
The reproducer fortunately only needed new gaskets, the diamond was good. Bill very generously took care of that for me today. 'Got my first lesson in rebuilding DD reproducers. I now have the three Edison cabinet horn sizes: 100, 150 & 250. There is an amazing difference in them.
Thank you very much for the tips on redoing the cabinet.
Regards, J.
