I have two verified as 'original' witches hat horns. One is on 1905 Standard A, and other is on a 1911-12 Standard C. The horn on the A is shiny black while the C has a flatter black finish. Were these horns finished in different ways depending on model or year they were made. Just wondering.... Thanks in advance.

Well, considering that the Model C Edisons ended when the Model D was introduced in 1908....
Anyway, the finish on such horns (if indeed they are original to the machine) has likely more to do with the conditions in which they were stored, than to any hypothetical changes by the manufacturers (if there is any evidence at all for such changes).

Well, considering that the Model C Edisons ended when the Model D was introduced in 1908.... Hi Bill. Actually the model C was produced for the ICS market for quite some time after the introduction of the model D. They were produced concurrently with the D, E, and F models. The highest serial number I've seen on a C is 819650. The highest serial number I've seen on any Standard is 820852 (a model D). Steve's machine has a fairly high serial number, so his estimated date is I think a good guess. Regards, Martin
