Hello, I am a new member and just found this forum. It is great to see so many nice folks answering questions. I just bought an LU-37 "London Upright" and there is no speed adjustment knob. Most posts about incorrect speed seem to be about machines that run too slow, with some kind of drag keeping the speed down. My Edison Diamond Disc Phonograph seems to run a bit too fast. Am I correct in assuming that the governor needs to be re-calibrated? Any opinions from you experienced people? Could someone tell me how to adjust the governor and/or post a link to a video that explains this procedure? Thanks so much!

On your Edison you can turn the knob, in the back corner, to slow it down. Once you have the correct 80rpm loosen the collar for the stop and move that to the stop pin.

I have never heard of a Diamond Disc machine without a speed control. I know that the cylinder Phonographs moved the speed control inside the case with the Model B series, but the disc machines always had an external knob. BillS

Thanks for your responses. And the link you posted Phonoboy was helpful. This is my first Edison Diamond Disc phonograph but in my research I have read that the later models did not come with a speed control knob on the bedplate. Of course there had to be a way for the factory to set the governor exactly to 80rpm. I will remove the bedplate and check underneath.
