I have an Edison Disk Phonograph S19 serial number SM-107660 with a speed regulation issue
It will start and run at a speed but gradulally slow down as the spring unwinds and if I wind the unit while playing will speed up. It changes the pitch a few half steps and is a gradual change.
The unit was not played for maybe 30 years so does it just need lubrication or loosening up? If so, How do I do this.
In the left back of the cabinet top is apparently a speed set knob which is fully counter clockwise and up against the stop pin. Turning this clockwise just slows the player down. It seems like this should be in the mid position if it is a speed regulator but it has to be fully counterclockwise to sound right.
Also, is there any way to know the manufacture date of this unit? The front storage door folds up and down not right to left - at least the hinges are on the bottom and I am missing the door.
Thanks!

I just noticed it looks like part of my governor is missing? Should there be two weights on this? See picture

Yes. You are missing a spring and weight. Proper play back speed is 80rpm.
