I just acquired a Edison Home Model B in pretty good shape. However, one of the small drive gears is loose on its axle. How does one repair a loose gear like this? I see no set screw. Is this a heat fit gear? Also, can someone provide me the name and part number of this gear? Watts has a catalog of part numbers and part names, but no illustration linking these part numbers and names to the gears on the unit. Thanks. CanioV Attachments:

Is the gear cracked at all?
If not, it is possible to solder it back in place.

After reading a few past threads on this forum, I better understand the nature of these gears and their repairs. I am going to disassemble the lower works and evaluate the gear. Most likely, I will get a new gear from one of the suppliers (Watts, APSCO,, Great Lakes etc) and press fit it onto the shaft. This will be a first for me, so wish me luck. Thx.

Yes this gear, the 19 toothed pinion is known for splitting. Ron Sitko sells a steel replacement, that has a set screw, I have used these set screw replacements, and never had a problem with them.
