Inherited my grandparents phonograph .... cranked it up for the first time and when the arm gets to the end of the record it won't swing back freely... I have to remove the front grill and manually disengage the saw tooth that engages the worm gear. Is something supposed to lift that gear, its spring loaded, so that the arm swings freely ?? Help !!

The tone arm horn assembly should raise via a lever on the motorbord. The lever is located on top of the motorbord to the front right. This disconnects the unit from the gear drive. I hope this helps.
