I just picked up an Edison Home Phonograph Model D for a little bit of nothing but it has a broken gear. Does anyone know if there is an assembly diagram for these machines? The parts diagram I can find but I need a diagram to identify the correct gear. One more question: The horn is an eleven panel 33" straight horn. The patent decal is gold colored but the horn decal looks white with blue trim and lettering. Is the horn decal washed out or was it always white?
Thanks Jim

The gear most commonly broken on Homes is the brass pinion in the left rear of the motor. Is that it?
Many suppliers carry replacement gears for Edisons: count the number of teeth in the gear, and specify that in your request.

Is the gear a very small usually brass one? If so, it's a 19 tooth gear, commonly called " The 19 tooth gear" due to problem with that gear cracking due to it's size. The new replacements are wider to make the gear less likely to break, again. Bill Cahill

Yep, that is the gear. I found an original replacement but it sounds like I need the newer version. I'll check with APSCO to see if they have the wider version. Thanks for the help. Jim
