It seems this board has been just barely clinging on to life for the past 6 months or so: by now, it appears to me to have given up the ghost. Should we call it, and sign the death certificate? Perhaps set up a memorial page, directing people to the Talking Machine Forum? BillS

It does seem dead, but I'd hate to see it go.

It seems odd that, shortly after posting this, we should get a couple of new inquiries...

It's dead everywhere, but, We need to keep them all up for history. I recommend against closing it down. I know there isn't much listing, but, I've seen a couple of interesting subjects. Please don't close it down. Bill Cahill

I am the main administrator of Antique tube radios and electrical appliances forum the worlds friendliest forums. We've faced the question whether, or, not, to close down, or, not. I've decided to keep it going. History, and, a place to share is important for generations to come... Bill Cahill

I agree to keep it going. I visit several times a week, even though I don't open any new threads. I do provide answers to new questions if I can and if they have not been answered by the time I see them. I do the same on the old victrolagramophones.proboards.com forum. At a minimum it should be kept as read only reference site with a link to the TMF on the front page. I would hate to see all the accumulated knowledge just disappear. Thanks Andreas

I agree with all above... Just keeping it going for reference purposes makes sense... ) Tony K. Edison Collector/Restorer

I am as guilty as anyone for not coming here very often any more. The talking machine site seems to have overtaken the others. Still like several who commented there is so much information on this site it would be a shame to loose. This has been happening with internet special interest groups for some time. I have three my self and most of the yahoo ones are hanging on by a thread, and that is both Yahoo's fault as well as lack of participation by most members. One group this past year that used to have lots of daily threads closed for the same reason, it went for three months without a single comment. It was the Coleman Yahoo group and once a great place for information. The similar group I have for KeroseneHeatersandStoves @yahoo.com has a huge collection of manuals, catalogs and thousands of photos from group members. Even though its only used now and then today I will not close it due to the wealth of information that is not available anywhere else. '
Plus I hate to see the long blog I did on Edison Disc Diaphragm replacements I worked on disappear as well.

Just my two cents, but I have loved reading and learning from you guys for years. I've had a couple of questions I wanted to post about various machines, but never went to the trouble to join until now - and a lot of questions I have had I have found already answered on this forum! If you need some new issues to address, let me get my list out . . . Seriously, this is an invaluable site. Keep it up, if possible, and I agree with larryh - there's a WHOLE lot of history and information here!
