I just got an Edison Standard Phonograph. Serial number is S3 013 00, with last Pat. date of Nov. 17, 1903. It does not have a model listed on the id plate as indicated by some information I have received. I believe it is the taller model, with the full script, Edison Standard Phonograph on the side. Could this be a B model, or does anyone have other info? It looks like everything is in working condition and the only thing missing is the horn crane. The horn with it is one of the large
ones. The crane anchor is on the machine. I also have 51 cylinders. All in good condition but all they have is numbers on the top of the cases. Any listings of what each number would indicate?

If it has the tall case and the banner decal, and has no external speed control, then it's most likely a Model B from the first half of 1906. (I have a model B, #281792, but it is an ICS version).
You can get reproduction crane parts from various sources (assuming that it is a standard-issue Edison crane).
As for the cylinders, there is a spreadsheet available online for Edison cylinders, with info on performers, recording dates, etc.
Photos, of course, would help in the identification.

Thanks for the info. Dumb me, I did find the titles to the cylinders embossed on the ends of the cylinder. The numbers for the cases are there also. I was confused at first, but finally realize that it was because some of the cylinders were in the wrong containers therefore the numbers did not match. Easy solution, just find the right container for the right cylinder. Lots to learn. I have seen several different types of horn cranes. Do you know which one would be the correct one for my machine?

A photo of the "anchor" might help to determine the type of crane. Also, I strongly recommend the Talking Machine Forum (TMF) as a resource: there are plenty of knowledgeable and helpful people there.
