Folks,
I was just contacted by someone with an Edison C-1 radio/phono for sale - it needs a lot of restoration, and they are looking for a minimum offer of over $9000.00.
If anyone is interested, contact me and I will happily put you in touch with the seller.

Thanks Matt,
The price is tempting, but I don't have the room nor the time for restoration.

Hi Bill,
I can't tell wether you're serious or not when you say the price is tempting
I know this is a rare bird, but $9000.00 seems way too high to me...

The machine at the Wayne show was a model C-2, not the larger or originally more expensive C-1. I talked to the purchaser of the C-2 and I believe he said he got it for $4300.00, two-hundred dollars off of the asking price. The dealer also had the C-4 radio-phonograph, designed for playing lateral discs only. It was priced at $1800.00 and I don't think it sold. Condensite

I saw that Sean and Fall River is not too far, but the machine needs LOTS of work.

I know, I figured it wasn't too far from you, Bill. What a shame, too becuase it does look far more salvagable than others I've brought back to life in the past (not C-1's, mind you...). I'll bet it doesn't sell though, so maybe they'll smarten up and relist starting at $100....OK wishful thinking right? I wouldn't be bidding either way...too many other projects to do and too many other machines I need to get rid of first before buying any more (well, not exactly - sealed a deal last night on a nice oak C-150 and a mint oak Cheney, possibly getting an oak amberola 75 as part of this too, all I can think about is WHERE an I gonna put these??)

"Where am I gonna to put these." Man do I know that story. I did make a little room today, though. I sold my Brunnie Mod 117 to a very happy new owner(plus a load of records!!) But, I just picked up a real clean eary(footless with the forward mounted crank) VV-IX on Thursday(it called to me), so ya can't win!

Love those Brunswicks!
I made some room today too..took three "projects" from the music room and moved them out to the workshop, one of them a Brunswick Seville that I felt sorry for and will probably never give it the treatment is deserves (I might take it to Wayne in October if somebody wants to give me $100 for it...). The others: A Columbia C-2 in oak that needs a total redo but is all there (Craigslist $25) and a Newby and Evans I picked up a couple of years ago and keep saying "well, one of these years...!" I've got a complete Amberola 75 with a trashed cabinet that could be brought back to like I need to get out of the basement too...ugh, but as Wayne draws nearer in October, I may be offering a few things cheap to clear some space.
I'm traveling next weekend to do this deal and I hope it works out well. Might get time to stop by and say Hi to Rocky if it all works out!
