Sometimes I will see an Edison Standard Lid painted a dark shade of green inside. I have one and thought it to be something the previous owner did. But I’m seeing the same shade on a few others that have gone up for sale recently. Was that an option, or something one dealer liked to do?
Just wondering. I was considering repainting it, but now...
Thanks!

In the very early 1900s "green oak" was fashionable, meaning Oak machines were tinted green when new. The green faded over the last 120 years because of exposure to light etc. On the inside you can still see just how green the wood was tinted, because it was protected from light. So this is from factory, not done by some previous owner.
