While doing some antiqueing. I found a nice small Edsion Standard Phonogrpah. It's a 2&4 minute cylinder machine. It's in fantastic shape, and comes with two cylinders, and a small horn. The Edsion Logo is the banner style. One Cylinder is a Gold Moulded, the other I do not regognize. The cylinder has a blue lable, but it's not a Blue Amberol. Price, $764.00. I would have bought it, but I don't have the money to buy it. I figure, it will be there awhile, since there are not that many Edsion collectors, in Maryland.

Paul,
If it's the Banner label, it's an earlier machine that was refitted with the 2/4 M combo attachment after it's introduction in 1908. You didn't say which model reproducer it came with, but one can assume it's probably a C, and as LukeW said, too much for this particular machine.

Yeah, well that's why I didn't buy it. I couldn't find the Model number on the reproducer, since it was sitting in a case. I have a feeling it will be sitting there for awhile. It's a shame too, becuse it's such a nice machine. BTW: How much would one like this go for? I spent $675.00, for the one I have now, and it was at $750.00.

I was looking at U.S. ebay last night, and I think I saw 2 model A standards for about $250 each. I think they were both 2/4 machines as well.

BTW: Someone bought it. I went back last week, and it was gone.

Guess what? I found another home phonograph. The good news it's $295.00! The bad news, it look's like it was negelected. When I frist spoted it, I knew waht it was, then I got a closer look. UGH! The decal on the front was partially worn off, but still legible. The case was intact, but needed to be refinshed, and the lid was missing the handle. The latches that hold the lid were a bit rusty, but still worked. I took the lid off and was shocked, by what I saw. The rails the reproducer ride on, were completely tarnishedm the ride gear was a mess, the leather drive belt was in need of replacement. The reproducer, was not shiney, and I could barely make out any markings. It looked like a model "C" reproducer. I tried to raise the lid to look inside, but it almost sliped off. Nothing was hloding it in place. So, I was unable to look at the motor, for fear of the whole top sliding right off. I was not able to wind it up, since there was not crank handle. Also, no horn. However, I was able to throw the release switch, and got some movement. I was not sure about the reproducer if it was still good? The one thing that was still alright was the metal palque, with the patent dates, and general information, plus a blue amberol cylinder. Had it been in better shape, I would have bought it, or at a lower price, I might consider it, but considering it would need a lot of work, it's not really worth it to me. Thankfully, I have a decent working cylinder machine already.

If you keep looking one will show up at around the same price that would not be a disaster area. It seems that some things have a certain area of price in which the condition can vary wildly. . .

Well, the ones that I come across that are not disasters, are more then $295.00. I have found three 2 minute machines. Rangeing in price from $695-$795. The one I own, I paid $695 for, a bit much for me but well worth it.
I'm surprised I haven't found a 4 minute machine, or even an Ambreol phonograph. I either find the 2 minute cylinder machines, or the DD machines. The cylinders on the other hand are impossible to find. Especially in playable condition.

Paul, I have a HOME mod B with the 2/4 minute gearing for sale. It has presently a Mod C reproducer and a Red Morning Glory Horn attached. Contact me via email if interested. Bill
