Gents, A customer & friend at my store asked me yesterday if I was interested in a "wind-up phono thingy like you collect"? "Of course silly boy!" says I. ;D "It's really beat and missing the winding think and the round record thing" he says, "but it's full of records." "It's made in Brockton" says he. Now I'm insane to see what he's found for me. ;D Well, he called me today at work to tell me he was at my house, LOL, fortunately my first floor tenants were home. So I had to wait 'til I got home to see what he'd gotten for me. Bill, we were right, it's a dealers plate. I believe it's an F-2. I have an empty cabinet of one down the cellar which I was looking for a motor etc for, I guess I have it now. I found the crank in he record storage compartment BTW. Regards, J. P.S. The sun roof is a cool feature! You don't see that option too often!

Good score John. And even better that you have a "spare" case. Its the same tone arm & sound box that was in a table model I used to have, & it sounded great! Im sometimes sorry I got rid of it. Shame the turntable didn't show up with the records too, but it shouldn't be too hard to find one. I've got 1 or 2 down in the shed.
PS: Love the sun roof!! Did you score any cool discs?

The price was definately right, John!!! Although the case is pretty much gonzo, the motor & free tone arm is a great score!!!

Folks, This S.O.B. that has me stymied: I still can't figure out how to get the elbow off the base. (Fortunately I don't HAVE to remove it, as it pivots easily now.) This one was missing the "hook" for the automatic brake, I have to pull the assembly off my K-2 to compare it again. I got the arm off the elbow by following directions I read on another list, but honestly I still can't figure out how it comes off and stayed on! I got the retaining ring and spring out of the base without completely breaking the pot-metal tabs. ;D What exactly is the purpose of the ring and spring in the base? Is it, as I suspect, to lift and support the elbow and to serve the same purpose as bearings in a Victrola Taper-Tube base? Regards, J.
