I am curious how you display your collection. Are they: 1. Crammed into a single room 2. Displayed throughout the house 3. Forced by spouse to be kept in the shop/garage 4. Combination of the above 5.

I keep the two machines I have in my living room. I'm not married, so I don't have to worry about where to keep them.

2. Displayed throughout the house. Pretty soon we'll be sleeping on them!

Display?? I WISH! I can walk up to, & play about 5 of my 30+ machines. The rest are stacked up through-out the house with sheets over them, and burried amongst other furniture. PITA! Ideally, I'd love to have a large room or lined shed to house most of my machines and records, with 1 or 2 in the lounge, and one in the bedroom. Maybe oneday

In our last house, I had a nice sized room set aside for phonos only. In our current house, we just finished remodeling our basement, which is now my office/phono room/family room - nice, but I really can't fit much in it - have had to sell off most of my collection, as we just don't have the room anymore- many are still in storage. There are a few "stragglers" displayed thoughout the house as well.

I don't have a lot of machines---five total! Two Edison disc machines and two Edison cylinder machines are in the parlor. I have an upright Victrola in the dining room.
I don't have a lot of machines because I'm not mechanically inclined and am not very good with tools.

Mt,
As Shane says, "DISPLAY?" ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I have four handy to play in my study, the portables are put away when not in use and the rest are machine waiting patiently for some level of repair or restoration.

Hi
I live on top of my retail shop and have all of my miniature machines displayed in a tower unit for my customers to see, I don't like to hide them away so they are there for others to enjoy. The rest of my collection is in every room of the house the Edison home, Amberola and my Rexonola are in my dance room, the Edison B19 is in the spare bedroom. Down stairs in my dinning room I have a Harmonie upright, a silky oak buffet style, Victor I and an X2 standard. All my picnic machines are stored with my records and are all used regularly. I also have room for more ;D Oh and a note on the dance room, my partner and I are dancers and quite often dance to the sound of the Gramophone/Phonograph eg Swing, Argentine tango, Rock'n'Roll and Mambo, I have not as yet been able to find any salsa to play on my machines.
Regards Marcel

I guess my original intent was to find out what the people with larger collections of machines were doing. It is still interesting to find out how smaller collections are displayed as well. I like the idea of a "dance room".
I have many more machines than I can easily display in a single room so am faced with a dilemma. Do I sell off the "extras"? Or try fit them in and have way too many machines around the house? When we built our house my architect insisted on including a "Gramophone Room" which has become my office/library/phono collection. No way to fit them all in though. Decisions, decisions.
