Hi guys, I just picked up a London Console (LC-38) last night. I think it's missing some sort of a wood trim piece that fits inside the back of the cabinet and is contoured to allow for the lateral movement of the tonearm. Am I making sense? Anyhow, I need what ever it is (you can see right down into the unfinished back inside of the cabinet (right below the EDISON decal) and am hoping someone might be able to help point me to the right place.
Thanks a lot.

Mike,
My london is next door and I will have to check it out, but it seems to me that I recall they didn't have the usual surround that the larger ones have in wood. I might be wrong, I will get back to you in an hour or so.

Yes I was correct, there is nothing in there but the motor board. I guess because it is so small and was a machine priced to sell at 75.00 it used as little extra as possible. If your in need of a replacement diaphragm for it you might consider on of mine, its 20.00 post paid, but you don't pay till you decide its worth it too you.

Thanks Larry: I just picked it up last night so I'm not sure about the diaphragm. What I know I do need are the things (whatever they are) to affix new grill cloth to the doors and one maroon(?) colored disc divider (I'm missing one).

Maybe your grill has removable pieces of wood that hold the grill cloth in place? I would have to look again, but the larger chippendale I just got looks like it was simply glued in place behind the grill? Need to look closer at that too.

If I remember correctly (I'm at work), there were a couple of wood tack strips, but not all around. Not sure if someone removed a couple of the strips or if a combo of strips and glue did the job.

No back piece in there with a tone-arm bumper/stopper - correct: Indeed, there ARE wooden strips tacked around the edge to hold the grille cloth in place: Hope this helps. Matt

Matt,
You have a very nice looking console there.. Always had a soft spot for those my self. Still wanting another William and Mary in decent shape.

Thanks, but that one's been gone for some time now - I had ALL of the Edison consoles at one time (not including the Art models - never had any of those). Have only two left: an Italian Umbrian and a Chippendale Console - both are for sale if anyone is interested......
The LC-38 was a nice machine, and handsome - those consoles take up a lot of room though!
