In case anyone here doesn't go to the other popular sites, I have a london console I am working on and lo and behold it has no Drive Gears for the horn and arm.. I can't even guess why they would be gone. Don't know if it has to be for that specific style or if maybe that part is interchangeable. Any one have one or know if they are standard or different on models.

Larry,
If you are referring to the narrow feed gear that rides along the feed comb, it is interchangeable with all of the other 2nd style diamond disc motors.

Not sure what you call it. The long arm with little saw like teeth is in place attached to the horn behind the horn support rod.. What is gone seems to be the shaft that is geared to the center spindle up under the turn table, then at the other end drives the horn across the record. I don't know if anything else might be missing or broken. It just seems strange that a piece like that wouldn't be on the motor. It will make it easier if all of them use the same part. I would wonder though if a larger motor board wouldn't use a longer rod due to the different size in horns and such?

Larry, What you seem to be missing is what is called the feed gear. This is held in two cast stanchions beneath the motor board by two adjustable bearings. These are held by 4 set screws, one on the end of each bearing to control the end shake and one for each to hold the bearing after it is adjusted. Facing the horn, on the left side of the feed gear arbor is a gear that meshes with the upper worm gear on the spindle shaft. On the extreme right side is a narrow worm gear that the feed comb assembly rides on, pulling the tone arm/horn assembly to the right. All the 2nd style motor boards are the same basic construction except of course if it had a 2 spring motor, a different spring bracket was attached to the generic motor board base. Duane Wyatt offered them in his cataloge at one time, you may want to contact him. Bill www.wyattsmusical.com/

Thanks Bill that is the part I seem to need, at least that would be a start. Hopefully I will get a chance over the weekend to figure out how to get the motor out and take a look at those two cast parts where the shaft pivots and see if its open or something is perhaps broken off. I will check out the link you gave. I also wasn't aware of the two motor board types. That makes sense over time of course. Do you know how you would know if it was a latter motor board if you were looking at say one on Ebay for parts?

Larry,
Any of the motor boards after the B-80 series (around late 1914) ie: the ones that have the horn assembly that pivots on a shaft with the reproducer, will be the one for you. I checked my meager spare parts assortment for DD machines and unfortunately I don't have what you need but I don't think you will have any difficulty getting that gear assembly.

Larry. Here is a picture of what the gear & shaft in question looks like. Bill

Yes Bill thanks, that is the part I am in need of. I sure hope it is the only one.
