Hi François, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind giving a few of us here your opinion and/or experiences of early Columbia records in France. For some time now, a fellow who is a member of another forum that some of us here post on, has been telling us that during WWI, Columbia pressed vertical cut records for US soldiers in France because a large percentage of your machines were Pathe's. I was just wondering if you have ever heard of, or come across any vertical cut Columbia disc's in your record hunts in France. Columbia vertical cut disc's are known to exist, but I think they were some sort of limited Special pressing which would not have been released for sale to the general public, and the number of surviving examples could probably be counted on one hand. I thought IF Columbia did press such records & shipped them to France in moderate numbers during the 1914-19 period, that perhaps you've seen or heard of them in your country. I personally don't believe such disc's were produced, but thought I'd ask incase you know something we don't (gramophone)Shane PS. I hope you haven't been asked elsewhere on this board & I've missed it.
