I have next to no knowledge about the subject of this board. I am dealing with my brother's estate which includes about 50 cyliders (they all appear to be Blue Amberol) and a player that is in poor shape , has no needles but does seem to work (with a lot of noise). I plan to use eBay to sell these, probably as a package, but I first need to understand more about what I have and how to evaluate the quality of the cylinders in order to describe them accurately. I would appreciate net links and/or reference books that might be useful to me.

You are welcome to post some photos of these items here - I am sure we could at least ID what you have and give you a ballpark value. Otherwise, I suppose a good place to start would be with Reiss' "The Compleat Talking Machine", which you might be able to get through a local library (or you can purchase it through a number of antique and/or phono dealers).

You may click the image button and have the image tags automatically show up in your post, or you may type them out yourself. The Image tags are simple and basically it's like this: [ img] URL [ /img] except for I used spaces so that this would show up for you. So remember to NEVER USE SPACES! If you are looking for a wonderful place to upload pictures for free I suggest using some of the sites below. These are known as "hosting sites" because they allow you to upload an image or picture (from your own computer) and have it "hosted" there. By doing that, the site will create a URL (http...) for your image. You simply need to insert that URL in the space that comes up when you use " " button located in the text reply box. [See item #3 for more specific instructions] Some FREE hosting sites I recommend: www.photobucket.com www.villagephotos.com www.imagemagician.com www.boomspeed.com
