Ok, so today I attended the Danbury Show at it's new location at the Holiday Inn. Formerly, this was held at the Ethan Allan Hotel in Danbury and I have to say that I preferred it there. I was told that the reason it was moved was due to Ethan Allen jacking up the rental by 50%!!!!!!! There were many absent dealers that usually attended this show and perhaps the economy is the main reason. There was nothing really exciting or rare as far as machines were concerned. As far as high end Victor horn machines, there was one Vic VI in less than desirable shape for $4,900.00 and there was an Edison Opera sans horn & elbow in about the same condition as the VI. No price was listed and I didn't bother to ask. I did find 11 DDs and a few BAs but on the whole records were largely absent this time around. We were basically done in an hour and a half making several passes, and I have to ask myself if this was worth the 6 hr. round trip. The highlight of the day was seeing Ken Woodbury looking hale and hearty. For those that know Ken and what happened this spring at the Wayne show, he has made a complete recovery and has been setting up again at the shows. He said he will not be at Wayne in Oct. though due to a prior commitment.
