Hello, When I only had several dozen cylinder records it was no real problem keeping track of what titles i had. Now my collection has grown to 300 and i find it is hard to remember just what titles I have and what condition they are in.Duplicates ,etc. Is there any online program where you can type in the cylinder number, title, and a condition grade and the program will then list them all in numerical order so a list can be printed out?? thanks Pete

Hi Pete. I don't know of any online programs for this, but you might try using Microsoft "Excel" or Open Office "Base". I use Excel and it works pretty well for my needs. If you don't have Excel, Open Office is a free download. It's pretty good, and being free, you can't beat the price. Here's the link for it: www.openoffice.org/I can send you a copy of my Excel cylinder list, which you can use for a template to get started. Let me know. In any case, good luck! Martin

I am just starting to database my cylinders using MS Access, for the beginners Excel is fine or Open office if you do not have MS Office. I will make my collection available on my web site when finished. Peter

Hello all as for cataloging my record collection i use a searchable data base i purchased on line called OrangeCd it allows me to enter all the necessary info like artist, composer ,title, record label, company , condition grade ,genera ,orig cost , purch cost, record format(2 or 4min 10in etc), location in collection(as in which shelf or cabinet) where and when purch, and notes. when i want to find a record i go to my computer and just use the quick search box and type any word say 2min and it will give me a list of all of my 2 min cylinders or if i type ada jones it will give me a list of all ada jones records i have 2min-4min 10im 12in. search for pathe victor. ragtime, classical, jazz, opera etc. you get the idea and tell me where to find it. this is ment for CD's but works good for all records. I have 3,896 entrys in mine so far another 80,000 to go time consuming to hand type all the info but 1 click to find it when i want to listen. google search OrangeCd has a free 30day trial. not perfect but well worth it for moderate to large collections. hope this helps everyone as much as it helped me. regards
