I was happy to win this record the other night, as I really like the song. cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250156495386During the 1970's I had a copy of a cylinder rendition of the song on tape. I don't recall who recorded it, but I'm pretty sure it was an Edison 2-minute. Oddly enough, there is no mention of the song in Allen Koenigsberg's cylinder book. Is anyone aware of any recording of "My Pony Boy" on cylinder? Rocky

Glad you posted that link Rocky- I think I bid against you on something the other day. I'll know better next time! My pony boy sounds like a dirty ditty. ;D It's not listed in the Indestructibles or Sterling cylinder catalogues. It's also not in the 1896-1902 Edison bell catalogue, but might be in the 1902-1913 list if anyone has that. I guess US Everlasting might be worth checking out as well.

Shane, I don't recall you bidding against me! If you're bidding against me, it means that you have good tastes in music! Your Ebay name is also "gramophoneshame," right? By the way, how do you deal with the brutal postage costs from the U.S.? I imagine that you often pay more for postage than for the actual records. On occasion I am tempted by "Scarce sounds'" records, but I pull away to avoid getting pummeled by the prohibitive postage. Rocky

Gramophoneshame- I like that! Actually I've found the postage from the U.S. very reasonable. Pretty much in line with what we pay here. Postage from the UK is another story! It is frightfully expensive. I hardly ever bid on stuff in england anymore. A $30 postage cost from the US, would work out to be about 80 pound-close to $200-for the same item. Its way over the top. I've just bought 2 recording horns from the states, and it's only $15 US for postage, which I thinks really good. It would cost me about the same to send them interstate over here. I just sold a HMV tonearm for $18 to a guy in Russia, and the poor fellows had to pay $40 to get it sent out to him. It would probably cost me half that to get one sent to me from the US.
