I have a strong suspicion that it is Harry Macdonough who is announcing his own record. However, I'm not familiar with his spoken voice. Maybe someone here on the Board may have known him personally? ;D cylinders.library.ucsb.edu/mp3s/2000/2386/cusb-cyl2386d.mp3"On the Banks of the Wabash" Edison #1510 Recorded ca. 1902 Rocky

Rocky,
I think you're right. The singing and speaking sound alike.

Thanks John.
I've been checking out Macdonough's early 2-minutes on the University of California cylinder site. There's three more cylinders there dated as "1902?" that are also announced by him. I note that anything dated 1903 and later is announced by Arthur Collins or one of the other regular announcers.

It was very common to have the artist announce the selection on early pieces. I have brown wax cylinders that the artist announced the record.

I like Byron G. Harlan's announcements! They sound affected, but I guess that's simply a reflection of the era.
