Hey guys, I don't know if I mentioned this before, but my two Columbia Cylinders were from the Paris Exposition of 1900, and the St. Louis Exposition of 1904. The lable is blue and features a women wareing a dress, made to resemble the Stars and Stripes, holding an American flag, with a Bald Eagle at her feet, and standing next too a Columbia Cylinder Machine.
Anyone else have cylinders form theses Exopostions?

Paul, These cylinders are not actually from the expositions, but rather Columbia exhibited at these expositions and won awards for their products and achievements. All Columbia 2-min wax boxes have this text on them. The lady is 'Columbia' herself, a symbol of the 'New World'. Columbia did produce 'napkin ring' souvenir cylinders at the St. Louis Fair (1904) and the Lewis & Clark Exposition (1905), which were souvenirs with the visitors voice(s) recorded upon them at the Columbia exhibits. These are pretty scarce although there have been a couple of them on eBay within the past couple of months. They are called 'napkin rings' because while they are the diameter of a standard cylinder, they are only about 1/4th of the length. The boxes are sized accordingly. Do a Google Image Search for Columbia Napkin Ring Cylinders and click on the link to tinfoil.com that shows a napkin ring cylinder. Luke W.

Paul, Just read your post on the other board regarding single-sided records. Same case as the cylinders, the companies were just bragging about the awards they won at the expos, not that the records were produced specifically for those events. The Victor 'Grand Prize' label and the Columbia 'black & silver' varieties, as well as the Columbia 'banner' label all brag on their respective awards. Luke W.
