We have a 1902 Kalamazoo record by Duplex Phonograph Co, Kalamazoo. Mich. The Duplex Phonograph. "Uncle Josh and Aunt Nancy To to Housekeeping". Talking No. 7344. Pic of a 2 horn phonograph is on label. We're glad to be on the board. Thank you for any info you might be able to find.

Hello Cindy,
The Duplex was a machine sold by mail-order from 1905-1910. There are a few variations of these. The machine was manufactured by American Graphophone (Columbia) for the Duplex company. The records were also supplied by Columbia when the label is peach colored and numbered in the 6000-7000 range. From the 1902 date you noted, I believe this is what you have. Red label Duplex records were supplied by the American Record Company and numbered in an 031000 series. There are other Duplex records made by lesser-known firms, but I'd need your record's catalog number to determine what it is for sure. Duplex was legally put out of business by Victor in 1909, but popped up again briefly in 1910.
Hope this helps,
George P.
Ooops - I see your catalog number in your original post! 7344 was indeed within the Columbia series!

George Thanks for your reply. I double checked and the catalog # is 7377. the label is peach colored. sounds like this one might be a hard one to find. Cindy and I bought about 300 78 records along with an Edison and some Edison records. I have rebuilt the reproducer in the Edison and it sounds good. Do you think the Duplex record is worth much? Thanks Wayne

Duplex records are scarce. As for value, it's worth whatever someone's willing to pay on a given day. Condition will of course be a major factor, as will the venue in which you sell it. Putting it on eBay is probably the best way to determine value.
