I need help identifying an Edison phonograph. I have searched diligently on the internet and can not find anything that looks like it. Unfortunately at this time I do not have a photograph, but will be getting one soon. Here is the best description I can give. It is a stand model. It is mahogany in color. It has the same pattern on the top front as a Sheraton model and the same type lid. It has the same type legs. The door on the cabin opens from the right. The screen is missing of the front. I have searched the entire cabinet and there is no identifcation label on it. It does say edison in the lid and on the top of the turntable it says Thomas A Edison. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Based on your description, my guess is that you have a C-150 there. Lok on the ID tag, located near the motorboard, and see what it says.

Thanks for the help Matt, but the ID tag has been removed.

If possible, could you post a pic? I'm sure it could be identified immediately.
Bill
As an addenda, the C-150 had turned legs and the S-19 had square.

It will be interesting to see the px! What is the hardware plated in- is it gold, nickelled or oxidised, and do you know how many springs are in the motor? This might help narrow the field a bit.
BTW: You'll find a link to a picture of a C-150, in the "What model is this" thread in this section of the board, and a link to a S-19 in the Other Brands section in the "I'm a bad boy" thread.

Boo...,
Let me chime in here with a stupid question, If it looks like an S-19 what makes you think it isn't? If it has the same square legs, the same inlay over the horn opening and the same lid?
If it's just a matter of the record storage door, later S-19's came with the side hinged door with wire separators for 36 records.
The S-19's dimensions are: Height 44 22/32"; width 19 7/16"; depth 20 3/16". Horn 150. Motor: Single spring.
Nice even dimensions there, what the Hell, was TAE superstitious or somethin' ;D

I'm back, Being just slightly obsessive compulsive I took photos of the images in "The Edison Disc Phonographs and the Diamond Discs" By George L. Frow (As it's the purpose of his book to educate us on on Edison Phonographs I hope this is considered the electronic equivalent of showing the book to another collector) ;D So here for our edification is the Edison S-19 (sans inlay) & the C-150 Sheraton "Please excuse the crudity of the model, I didn't have time to build it to scale or paint it" (Late night quickie job.) Regards, J.

Thanks for the photo Neophone. I am sure it is the S19 model with the cupboard door. That is what was confusing me so much. When I was searching the internet for pictures I could not find a S19 model that opened like that. That is why I wasn't sure it was the S19. Anyway, I sure appreciate the help. This phonongraph was found in a barn just rotting away. I thought it would make an great addition to my house. I am currently trying to clean it up. It has a lot of dust and oxidation.
