I've had some trouble with my Model B reproducer for my Gem. When I bought the phonograph, the stylus was not connected to the reproducer diaphragm (if it was an ear, I would say the stirrup was not connected to the ear drum). It looked it had been connected by some type of resin or glue. So I reglued it with super glue which evidently is not durable enough for this as it started skipping and then eventually became detached again. So my question is, what is my next best step? Is there way to get it to reattach more permanently or do I need to replace the diaphragm or perhaps some other kind of reproducer rebuild/repair? It looks like the diaphragm is micah or glass and the surface is not perfect and has resdiue remaining on it from my gluing and whatever the previous glue was. Thanks for any advice you may give!

Brad,
The original was shellacked to the diaphragm but you are going to have to clean the surface with acetone to remove any remnants of the super glue before you attempt to re-attach it. Once you get it clean, you can either try the super glue (get the gel type) again or get yourself some stick shellac. If you can't find any, I'll send you enough to re-attach it.
