I have a Model A Home Edison C reproducer. Can you play blue amberol cylinders on this? I think the C means two min cylinders- will it hurt to place the blue ones? If you cant, what kind can you play on it? Thanks------ Also need a crank-- Not sure about this. Slotted?

The C reproducer is for 2 minute cylinders only. If you try to play Blue Amberols with it, you will get very poor sound: the stylus is too big for the grooves.
Furthermore, as your machine does not have the gearing for 4 minute cylinders, you cannot play Blue Amberols on it anyway. You can however play any standard size 2 minute cylinder - Edison, Columbia or Indestructible.
The Model A does indeed use a slotted crank.

As said before Model A machines play 2 minute cylinders only, with a model C reproducer, Blue Amberols will sound muddy, and every other groove is skipped over. Their is several manufactures of 2 minute cylinder records and blanks, and recording services out there. Wizard, Vulcan, Robert Lomas. If you obtain a recording attachment, there are 3 suppliers of new recording blanks for your machine, Borri Audio Laboratories, Paul Morris, and Chuck Richards. I used to offer a recording service, but I only have time now to make blanks cylinders. If you buy blanks, patronize all of us who make blanks, each has a different and unique sound, all are of a very similar formulations.
