I am new to the forum and am ignorant about such things but can anybody please tell me the size-MM's of the 2 minute stylus that the Edison Company produced for its cylinder reproducers? I have been looking on the net and I have seen sizes all the way from.2 to .7 MM's. They don't vary that much do they? Then I suppose that the 4 minute is one half of that dimension?? Thank you, Dave

ALTHOUGH OTHER MEMBERS OF THIS BOARD COULD ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, I WOULD SUGGEST YOU WRITE TO STEVE MEDVED IN FLORIDA. HIS EMAIL ADDRESS IS STEVE_NOREEN@MSN.COM. THE MAN IS A GENTLEMAN WHO REPAIRED MANY OF MY REPRODUCERS AND IS A TRUE CRAFTSMAN. MICHAEL

I was just curious about this as well as other aspects of the machine. I need to ask another dumb question please. It appears that other members of this board are either so tightly controlled or in fear of making a post without the O.K. of its leaders that you guys have little or any fun on here. Maybe its a control issue??? I will take my leave of the Gestapo. Dr. Dave Kanis PhD

You could do worse than consult Expert Stylus, who have done a great job of putting new styli on most of my reproducers. They can be found on www.78tours.com/Expert_Stylus_Company.htm and I have found them the most willing and helpful guys ever. Hope it helps Keith PS - Not knowing who my leaders are, I have never troubled myself by asking permission to put up posts here or anywhere else! K

2 minute stylus is supposed to be 36 thousandths of an inch in diameter, the record groove created with a 40 thousandths cutter. four minute playback stylus of 18 thousands of an inch cut with a 20 thousandths cutter.

As far as I know, anyone can post whatever they wish (within reason of course, we don't wish to descend to the level of some Boards, do we?). In my experience, there is certainly no one controlling what is said here. The fact that few choose to post, is a matter of personal choice.
All the best
