I am a beginner to study Edison cylinders and collect them in Korea. I am a new member. I understood Edison Gold Moulded Records(1902~), Edison Emberol Records(1908~) and Edison Blue Amberol Reccords(1912~) in the case. I have queries on "Edison Standard Records" and "Edison Records" in the case. When do they manufacture? Please refer to the attached photos.(I will buy and bought them in ebay) Thanks in advance. Hello Tony,
To my knowledge Edison records are later Edison Gold-Moulded records(c.1907-1908), and Edison Standard records are the 2 minute Edison variety, at the time Edison introduced the 4 minute amberol records, Edison offered both standard and amberol untill 1912. I think Edison Standard records were made out of the same brittle wax amberol material as the wax amberol themselves.

According to Allen Koenigsberg, the switch from "Edison Gold Moulded Records" to "Edison Records" occurred about July 1908. After the introduction of the wax Amberols in November, the designation was changed to "Edison Two Minute Records"; by January 1909, the label read "Edison Standard Records". This label was used up to September 1912, when Edison ceased production of 2 minute records.
