I have an Edison Home Phonograph. I need a belt. This machine (I think1908) does not have a tensioner (it could be missing?). How do I adjust the belt tension?

Isabella, many Edison machines have a tensioning device under the bedplate that gently moves the motor away from the bed thus putting tension on the belt. It is about 3/4 inch around surrounded by a spring. I have had very good luck with the rubber belts I see on Ebay for about 12 bucks. Jeeprod

Is there a hole visible between the governor bearing and the lower pulley? That's where the pivot for the belt tensioner should be…
