I'm looking for information, or a guide, as to how to recognize whether any individual cylinder plays at 2 minutes or 4 minutes. Is there an easy way to tell the difference? I have a couple dozen cylinders and already damaged one by playing it at the wrong setting.
I recently scored an Edison Model B player with the 2/4 upgrade and a Model H reproducer. I understand I should probably get a Model C reproducer for the 2 minute and then I can enjoy both.
Thanks!

The grooves are a dead giveaway. 4 minute grooves look more like those on an LP.
Generally, anything on wax is 2 minutes (except for wax Amberols; but those always have a "4M" marking). 4 minute Indestructibles are also generally marked; Blue Amberols are always 4 minute, with the exception of the extremely rare Mexican series.
Hope this is of some help.
