Hi There!
I just acquired an Edison Sheraton S19 from an estate sale. I brought it home and tried it... The turntable turns great, however the sound doesn't seem to be coming from the horn, rather it seems to be coming from the reproducer. Any idea why that might be / how I could fix it?
Thanks, Dave

Hi: Did you check the horn? Is the mute ball in there? Is there anything else blocking the horn (debris, mouse nests, etc.)? How about the reproducer: any blockage in there? Is the diaphragm intact?
At the very least, the reproducer will benefit from a rebuild anyway: replacing the gaskets, checking the diaphragm and stylus, etc. Let me know what you find.

Thanks BillS. The mute ball is not in the horn. No blockage of the reproducer. How do I know if the diaphragm is intact?

If you blow down the neck, and air comes out the other side, then you have a hole in the diaphragm. Either that, or the compression ring is not screwed down enough to make it airtight. Alternatively, if you blow down the horn, and find some impedance, there may be something else blocking it.

Thanks BillS. It seems like the horn is just fine. I can blow down it and make noise, and the horn amplifies the sound like it should.
I'm guessing it is an issue with the diaphragm in the reproducer. Do you know where I might look to get this repaired? Really appreciate all your help!

I would suggest Wyatt Markus, who has done some excellent rebuilds for me. He can be found under the name "MicaMonster" on the Talking Machine Forum.
