Posted for your enjoyment is "YOU'RE A GRAND OLD RAG" by Billy Murray, Edison 2M #9256. This was from George M. Cohen's Broadway play "George Washington, Jr.(1905)" Apparently, there was a public outcry to the use of "rag" referring to the American flag, so there was a recall of this cylinder. It was re-released on Edison 2M with the same # but was titled "YOU'RE A GRAND OLD FLAG" later that year YOU'RE A GRAND OLD RAG Edison #9256 by Billy Murraywww.box.net/shared/bnnsv0nq1aI sent this recording to the Cylinder Preservation & Digitalization Project as they have a poor copy of this cylinder and wouldn't post it. It will be interesting to see if they post this copy! Bill cylinders.library.ucsb.edu/search.php?queryType=&query=you.re%20a%20grand%20old%20rag&num=1&start=1&sortBy=&so

Thanks for posting this! Has the Cylinder Preservation & Digitalization Project ever posted outside files before? I'd be a bit surprised to find they'd be willing to catalogue items not in their possession. I guess we'll see. Condensite
